Too Windy to Sail

Hi Everyone, Friday we were to splasht the boat and go out for a practice sail. It was sunny and beatiful but the famous Mistral winds were blowing and building by the hour. Several of the SKUD teams were rigging to head out from the dock. Spain left the harbor but soon came back with a broken mast. After seeing this and checking wind strength, the teams on the dock de-rigged and went home. We were told by the crane operator to that it was too windy to lauch our boat. Therefore, we (mostly Steve) contiuned on with boat maintenance, lunch, etc. We did manage to navigate the bus system and headed into old town Hyeres for some sightseeing and dinner. This morning, Saturday the winds are much more calm so it should be a good day for practice. Opening ceremonies are this evening and racing starts tomorrow. Stacie and John
